Šakiai Vytis-VDU (1-0), which has started the new URBO-NKL season, defeated Kretinga-Rivile (0-1) 89:78 (23:16, 22:20, 23:17, 21:25) in an away game.
Erikas Kučiauskas’s team started the game strongly and, after the tip-off, raced ahead with a 15:4 run that set the tone for the game. Although the home team kept closing in and reducing the deficit to one point, the Vytis-VDU team, made up of students from Vytautas Magnus University, managed to maintain a fragile lead and pull ahead again.
Leading throughout the game, the Vytis-VDU players finally pulled away at the start of the decisive quarter, laying the foundation for victory (71:53).
Titas Januševičius, wearing the Šakiai team jersey again, made a spectacular comeback. The attacking guard scored 22 points (5/7 two-pointers, 3/5 three-pointers, 3/4 free throws), 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 28 efficiency points in 27 minutes.
Gabrielius Čelka played at a triple-double pace and collected 11 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 25 efficiency points. Rokas Jocys added 20 points to the victory.
