In the NSTL Women’s League match between VDU and KTU, fans witnessed a fierce five-set battle, which was won by Vytautas Magnus University with a score of 3:2 (25:14, 25:20, 20:25, 23:25, 15:10) after a turbulent course of play.
VDU started the match excellently and quickly built up a comfortable lead in the first set, leaving their opponents with little chance – 25:14.
The second set was similar: stable play in attack and confident reception allowed VDU to increase their lead to 2:0 (25:20).
In the third and fourth sets, KTU showed character. Stronger serving and better defense allowed them to take the initiative and win the sets 25:20 and 25:23, thus evening the score.
In the decisive fifth set, VDU returned to their game – accurate attacks and fewer mistakes allowed them to quickly pull ahead, and the set was closed with a score of 15:10, securing victory in the entire match.
Vakarė Bartkutė stood out most prominently on the VDU team, scoring 24 points, while Nazli Kozinoglu (19 points) and Vanesa Matulevičiūtė (15 points) also made solid contributions.
The VDU volleyball players took revenge on the KTU team with the same set score (3:2), as they had suffered a defeat with the same score in the first round.
