Kaunas hosted the city’s open winter championship and the Lithuanian student indoor athletics championship, which brought together athletes from 10 higher education institutions, at the new President Valdas Adamkus Athletics Arena.
Our students performed successfully at this sporting event, winning 4 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
We are delighted that the University’s track and field athletes won second place in the team competition for the first time based on the points they earned.
The following athletes climbed to the top of the podium and won gold medals: Rugilė Miklyčiūtė (ŠA SS, pole vault), Reda Teteriukovė (MF, 800 m), Kristupas Seikauskas (TF, 60 m), and Lukas Šermukšnis (PMDF, 400 m). .
Silver medals were awarded to Aurėja Beniušytė (ŠA SS, triple jump), Paulina Stuglytė (ŠA SS, shot put), Gabija Klimukaitė (ŠA SS, 60 m), Reda Teteriukovė (MF, 400 m), Robert Karagezian (ŠA SS, 60 m) and Rugilė Miklyčiūtė (ŠA SS, 200 m).
Bronze medals were awarded to Sonata Rudytė (ŠA SS, shot put), Rusnė Strelčiūnaitė (ŠA SS, triple jump) and Aistė Mižutavičiūtė (ŠA SS, long jump).
The next event for the track and field athletes will be in May in Riga, where the SELL (Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) Student Sports Games will take place.
