“Vytis-VDU” defeated “Stekas” at home

In Urbo-NKL Šakiai Vytis-VDU (2-0) secured another victory in the season with the players delivering some impressive shots. Erikas Kučiauskas’s men firmly defeated Ukmergė Stekas (0-2) at home 81:66 (28:17, 17:15, 19:11, 17:23). The visitors put up a tough fight at the start of the match, but began to crumble in the second half of the first quarter. Šakiai pulled ahead with a 12:0 run and built a double-digit lead (30:17). The VDU footballers, who were the first to break ahead, were no match for the VU team

On Wednesday, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) footballers lost 2:4 to Vilnius University (VU) in a Lithuanian Student Football League match in Vilnius. Reinas Batutis put VMU ahead in the 26th minute (1:0), but VU equalized in the 30th minute – 1:1. At the end of the first half, the hosts took the lead (2:1), and in the 49th minute, they increased their lead to 3:1. Soon after, VMU representative Tautvydas Šiugždinis scored a goal to soften the blow (2:3, 52 min.), but in the 89th minute, VMU goalkeeper Rokas Bagdonavičius scored an own goal, increasing VU’s lead (4:2). VMU will play its next Lithuanian student football match on Tuesday, October 14, when it will host guests from the Lithuanian Sports University at the VMU President Valdas Adamkus Sports Center.

Two medals for VDU representatives at the Lithuanian Student Cross Country Championships

On October 5, a large group of young athletes gathered at Vilnius University Stadium for the Lithuanian Student Cross Country Championships. The running competition for the Felicija Karoblienė and Jonas Pipynė trophies, named after famous Lithuanian runners of the past, took place on the autumn forest trails. Among the students of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), Akvilė Bučytė (ŠA SS II k.) performed best, winning a silver medal in the 2000-meter race. Goda Šiaudvytytė (ŠA SS I k.) took third place in the 1000-meter race. In the men’s 3000 m race, in which Rokas Semaška (ŠA SS III k.) competed, there was a fierce battle until the very finish – Rokas finished fifth. In total, more than 90 participants competed in different running distances – the girls’ 1000 m race, Felicija Karoblienė’s 2000 m race, the boys’ 3000 m race, and Jonas Pipynė’s 5000 m race.
