The 2024–2025 LSKL finalists – Vytautas Magnus University (VDU) and Vilnius University (VU) – met this time in the capital, where the multiple league champions, VDU basketball players, proved their superiority. Arūnas Juknevičius’s team celebrated a 23-point victory – 110:87 (30:11, 19:28, 29:27, 32:21).
VDU shifted into high gear in the first quarter, pulling ahead significantly – 30:11 – and later did not allow their opponents to close the gap to single digits.
Paulius Velutis led the VDU team to victory with 23 points (4/9 two-pointers, 4/5 three-pointers, 3/5 free throws, 20 efficiency points). Rokas Perveneckas and Domas Uosis scored in double digits with 14 points each, Kajus Leliukas had 11, and Dominykas Černius and Jokūbas Rubinas had 10 points each.
Marijus Miškinis tried to save the VU team, scoring almost a third of all the team’s points – 25 points (7/12 two-pointers, 1/5 three-pointers, 8/10 free throws, 7 rebounds, 8 fouls drawn, 32 efficiency points). Bruno Wollmann scored 16 points, Ignas Venskus – 12, and Domantas Dzimidas contributed a double-double – 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The VDU team made 18 of 44 three-pointers (40.9%), while the Vilnius team did not excel in long-range shots on their home court, making only 5 of 24 (20.8%).
“After the first quarter, I could see that there would be no problems. I was calm even when I saw that some players were a little relaxed. We let our opponents get a little closer, but then we immediately shifted into high gear and pulled ahead. There’s no reason to be angry with the players, because we’ve had a real marathon of games lately, so I just let them enjoy the basketball,” said VDU coach Arūnas Juknevičius after the game.
