VMU secured two gold medals at the EUSA European Universities Rowing Championship in Zagreb
VMU athletes won two gold medals at the EUSA European Universities Rowing Championship in Zagreb, Croatia, held from 28 to 31 August.
The first gold medal was claimed by VMU’s representatives in the double sculls, Dovydas Nemeravičius and Armandas Kelmelis. In the double boat final, the athletes overtook crews from Zagreb and Budapest Universities, completing the 2000 m course in 6 minutes 29.77 seconds.
The second gold medal was secured by VMU rower Povilas Stankūnas, who completed the 2000 m race in 6 minutes 53.88 seconds.
In addition to the gold medalists, another VMU representative, Ugnė Šakickaitė (women’s single sculls), also competed at the EUSA European University Rowing Championships, racing in the B final. She completed the distance in 8 minutes 42.65 seconds, finishing in 9th place.
