Šakiai Vytis-VDU (6-2) remained on a winning streak in the URBO-NKL championship. Erikas Kučiauskas’s team defeated Alytus 88:72 (20:15, 17:27, 18:7, 33:23) at home.
The Šakiai team won for the fourth time in a row, while Alytus stumbled for the second time in a row.
Augustinas Mikštas scored a double-double for the winners, scoring 22 points (8/8 two-pointers, 2/4 three-pointers) in 24 minutes, grabbing 10 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists, and generating 29 efficiency points. Titas Januševičius added 20 points and 4 assists, while Kajus Leliukas contributed 17 points and 7 rebounds.
The first half of the match went better for the visitors, who, after a 12:0 run in the second quarter, tipped the scales in their favor (25:20) and maintained this lead until the long break – 42:37. However, when the teams returned from the locker room, the picture on the court changed. In a fierce battle, Vytis-VDU shifted into high gear at the end of the third quarter and, after a 14:3 run, took a commanding 67:51 lead with 7 minutes left in the game.
The visitors were unable to regain the momentum for the remainder of the match. The hosts made fewer mistakes (8:18) and scored 23 additional points after Alytus lost possession. Šakiai also outperformed their opponents in fast breaks, 27:8.
