Vytautas Magnus University basketball team has begun the season of the Regional Basketball League (RBL). On 25th of October, our University basketball team met the Ignalina “Vilkakalnis” athletes and secured a victory with a score 135:53.
Top scorers were: Rokas Ruškys (27 points), Domantas Burneika (22 points), Lukas Garliauskas (16 points).
The day after the devastating victory, on 26st of October, VMU basketball players met the athletes of the Lithuanian Deaf Sports club, who were defeated by 40 points (110:70).
Top scorers in this match: Aldas Gadeika (29 points), Vainius Steponavičius (15 points), Bartautas Blažauskas (14 points).
After a victorious weekend, VMU basketball team captain Lukas Garliauskas was pleased with the team’s performance, but said that there is still a lot of hard work left.
“The start of the season is good. It is nice to start the championship with two solid victories, though has to admit that there will be a race to contend with strong opponents.
To this day, I am delighted that everyone on the team got a chance to compete. There is a long season ahead, so each team member will need to make a contribution to reach the overall goal of returning to Division A. I am convinced that a game like the one we are currently demonstrating will not be sufficient to achieve this, and we must continue to work, improve our inter connectivity and play the role that we are able to do”, – L. Garliauskas shared his thoughts.
