The 35th traditional Augustinas Karkauskas Cup competition took place in Kaunas over two days. On the first day, our girls defeated Jonavos SC-19 and the Lithuanian Sports University teams 2:0. The VDU girls took first place in their group.
However, in the semifinals, after a fierce and tense battle, the VDU volleyball players had to admit the superiority of the Kaunas University of Technology students with a score of 1:2, but in the final for third place, they proved once again that they were stronger than the LSU team with a score of 2:0. The winners of the tournament were the students of Vilnius University.
The VDU women’s team was awarded bronze medals. The prize for the best player of the tournament was awarded to Virginia Cavanna, an Italian student studying at our university under the Erasmus program. The women of our university proved that they can compete with strong opponents. This competition is preparation for the Lithuanian Student Cup volleyball tournament, which will take place in Vilnius in a week.
