Led by Kajus Leliukas, Rokas Jocius, and Augustinas Mikštas, Šakiai’s Vytis-VDU (4-2) won 93:79 (27:14, 22:13, 24:21, 20:31) defeated last season’s National Basketball League (URBO-NKL) champions Telšiai (3-3).
With 2.5 minutes remaining in the first quarter, Šakiai had built a double-digit lead (19:8), which grew to a crushing 49:27 by halftime. At the start of the third quarter, Vytis-VDU increased their lead to 26 points (57:31), which they managed to maintain until the start of the decisive stretch (73:48).
With one minute remaining in the match, the hosts reduced the deficit to 11 points (77:88), but Šakiai did not allow their opponents to catch up in the remaining time and celebrated their fourth victory of the URBO-NKL season (93:79).
Kajus Leliukas was the most valuable player on the Šakiai team, scoring 13 points (4/5 two-pointers, 1/3 three-pointers, 2/3 free throws), 8 rebounds, and 19 efficiency points in 20 minutes. Rokas Jocys also contributed 13 points (5/7 two-pointers, 1/5 three-pointers) to Vyčio-VDU’s victory, while Augustinas Mikštas scored 12 (3/3 two-pointers, 2/3 three-pointers).
