The first esports tournament organised by the VMU Sports Centre and Cyber Space concludes

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Sports Centre and Cyber Space, a gaming and entertainment venue, successfully organized the first esports tournament for VMU students and other basketball fans. The event, which took place on the NBA 2K24 platform, generated great interest and eagerness to compete. The tournament was a hard-fought battle until the last minute of the game.

Dr. Edgaras Abromavičius, VMU Esports Curator, emphasized the importance of this event: “This is the first, but certainly not the last, esports tournament organized by the VMU Sports Centre. Together with Cyber Space and other partners, we are working on the development of this sport and are putting a lot of effort into improving the existing esports infrastructure.”

VMU pays great attention to esports, which is becoming increasingly important not only in entertainment but also in academic contexts. The university is investing in esports infrastructure and partnerships to ensure that students and the university community have access to high-quality esports facilities.

This tournament establishes VMU as one of the leaders in esports development in Lithuania, through its drive to integrate new technologies and promote innovative activities within the student community.
