VMU basketball team bacame the winner of B division of the Regional Basketball League (RBL)

The basketball team of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), competing in the third capacity Lithuanian Basketball League – Regional Basketball League (RBL), became the winner of RBL division and in the next 2020/2021 season will play in the RKL A division. Regional basketball teams competing in division A fight for eligibility for the National Basketball League (NBL).

VMU basketball team won 22 victories and suffered 5 losses during the regular season, thus winning first place in the group. In the 2019/2020 season, they managed to play the first quarterfinal match against the Anykščiai team and achieved a victory of 99:89 after two extra times. The last match was played by the VMU team on the eve of the announcement of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the quarantine announced in the country, RBL was forced to suspend the season. More than two months later, during the Regional Basketball League conference was decided to end the season and announced the results of the regular season, which ensures that VMU basketball team won first place in the RBL B division and entry into the RBL A division.

VMU RBL basketball team, trained by Arūnas Juknevičius commented on the season: “The season was hard, a lot of work and effort had to be put into each match. We have achieved our goal of entering RKL division A, although there have been very changeable matches during the season”.
