Are you a person who doesn’t like to exercise alone? We invite you to join badminton practices at the VMU Sports Centre, where you will not only get physical exercise, learn new things, have fun, take a break from your studies or work, but also make new sports friends.

On Tuesday and Thursday (14:00-15:30), two-time Lithuanian adult badminton champion Ieva Gaidė visits the practices to give valuable tips to those who want to get to know the sport better.

Badminton is an exciting, fun, and active sport that’s easy to practice – it’s an easy-to-learn sport that’s a great way for people of all physical abilities to stay active and socialize. Badminton may seem like just a normal sporting activity, but the physical and psychological health benefits of playing badminton are huge:

  • badminton being a team game, helps to foster healthy competition, and playing and competing healthily helps to maintain good social relations with people;
  • energetic badminton is a healthy habit that helps relieve stress and boosts happiness hormones;
  • when playing, the player has to concentrate on the fast-moving ball, and the actions of the opposing team or the teammate, which increases the level of concentration and mental activity, as well as mental dexterity;
  • the continuous badminton movements and strokes strengthen the heart muscles and bones and improve flexibility and muscle strength – helping to maintain overall body balance.
