On October 5, a large group of young athletes gathered at Vilnius University Stadium for the Lithuanian Student Cross Country Championships. The running competition for the Felicija Karoblienė and Jonas Pipynė trophies, named after famous Lithuanian runners of the past, took place on the autumn forest trails.
Among the students of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), Akvilė Bučytė (ŠA SS II k.) performed best, winning a silver medal in the 2000-meter race. Goda Šiaudvytytė (ŠA SS I k.) took third place in the 1000-meter race. In the men’s 3000 m race, in which Rokas Semaška (ŠA SS III k.) competed, there was a fierce battle until the very finish – Rokas finished fifth.
In total, more than 90 participants competed in different running distances – the girls’ 1000 m race, Felicija Karoblienė’s 2000 m race, the boys’ 3000 m race, and Jonas Pipynė’s 5000 m race.
