VMU athletes became winners of the 2020 Lithuanian Student Beach Volleyball Championship

This weekend (June 13-14) the National Student Volleyball League (NSVL) beach volleyball championship took place in Vilnius. Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) teams also took part in this championship.

In subgroup B of the Men’s League, the university was represented by VMU 2 team – Valentinas Lekavičius and Artūr Vincelovič; VMU 1 team – Ignas Mazūras and Marius Alaunis appeared in subgroup C; VMU 3 team – Deividas Strumila and Mantas Vaivada played in subgroup C.

Valentinas Lekavičius and Artūr Vincelovič in the final fight for the gold medal posed a serious challenge to the representatives of the Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) Audrius Knašas and Patrikas Stankevičius. Unfortunately, after persistent sections and playful struggle, LSU athletes defeated the representatives of our university with the result 2:0 (21-12; 32-30) and for the second year in a row defended the title of Lithuanian student beach volleyball champions. VMU 2 team volleyball players were awarded by silver medals.

Other men’s teams, representing VMU, did not cross the threshold of the semi-finals.

Vytenė Vitkauskaitė and Urtė Andriukaitytė represented VMU in the Women’s League and subgroup A. In the final of the championship, our university students overcame the athletes of Vilnius University (VU) Aine Raupelytė and Jekaterina Kovalskaja, and became winners of the 2020 Lithuanian Student beach volleyball championship, by the result 2:0 (21-13; 21-17).
