VMU Athletes’ won third place in SELL Student Games 2019

17-19 of May SELL (Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia) Games took place in Kaunas (Lithuania). It is an international sports competition for students. VMU students earned a total of 22 medals and ranked 3^rd among 37 universities. More than 1500 athletes from Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Estonia, China, Russia and Poland participated in the games. For the first time in the history of Vytautas Magnus University games were represented by 121 athletes. University representatives attended eleven sports events from thirteen.

Athletics

In athletics competitions VMU won 6 medals. Gold medal – Dominykas Petrosevičius (triple); silver medals: Aleksas Vilkas (jump to the height – 2 m), Miglė Paulikaitė (jump to the height – 1,60 m), bronze medals: Darius Križanovskij (400 m), Gytis Krivickas (1500 m), Monika Jovaišaitė (800 m).

Power lifting

VMU representatives won 2 medals in power lifting. Gold medal – Ričardas Pupeikis, who won the first place in the 66 weight category; silver medal – Ieva Balukonytė, who won the 2^nd place in the 63 weight category.

Table tennis

VMU girls team (Monika Kavaliūnaitė, Eglė Jankauskienė, Kornelija Lisinaitė) won 2^nd place; VMU boys’ team (Matas Vilkas, Ignas Navickas, Ernestas Mincevičius, Vytautas Rybakas) won 3^rd place. Eglė Jankauskienė won the bronze medal in the women’s unit.

Basketball

VMU basketball players won 2 medals in SELL Student Games: 1^st place – VMU basketball team; 3^rd place – VMU2 basketball team.

Football

Women’s footballs team won 3^rd place in the SELL Student games; men’s football team took the 4^th place.

Badminton

Sandra Damaškaitė and Kazimieras Dauskurtas took the 2^nd place and were awarded by silver medals.

Orienteering sport

Mantas Volungevičius – 10^th place, Gedvilė Diržiūtė – 7^th place and Rytis Šteinys – 6^th place.

Swimming

Elvinas Daškevičius represented VMU in the swimming events. Unfortunately, he was unable to enter the 100 m and 50 m swim free style.

Judo

Gold medals went to Brigita Trumpytė (48 weight), Raventa Zeniauskaitė (57 weight) and Inesa Jurčenko (70 weight)/ Bronze medals: Darius Katinas (100 weight) and Domas Ševelinskas (+100 weight).

Greek and Roman wrestling

Ričardas Ivanovas (67 weight) won the second place in Greek and Roman wrestling.

Chess

Meda Mačiuitytė won the 3^rd place.

Next year SELL Student Games will be held in Finland.
