VMU took third place in the Lithuanian Student Fencing Championships
On 13 April, athletes from eight Lithuanian higher education institutions competed in the Lithuanian Student Fencing Championships, held at the Mykolas Romeris University Sports Hall in Vilnius. The competition featured men and women who competed in individual sparring matches and simultaneously collected team ranking points for the higher education institution they represented.
In the women’s group, the champion was Lurdė Grabovskytė, representing Vilnius University. The silver medal went to fencer Aušrinė Šimkutė, also studying at Vilnius University. She lost one bout in the subgroup. The third-place finishers and recipients of the bronze medals were Patricija Ščetko from Mykolas Romeris University and Olha Lytvynenko from Vytautas Magnus University.
In the men’s group, Titas Puronas, studying at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, claimed the first place. The silver medal went to Paulius Vagnorius, a student at Kauno kolegija. The third-place finishers and recipients of the bronze medals were Makaras Lozenko and Daumantas Malinauskas from Vilnius University.
In the team standings, Vilnius University secured the first place, followed by the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in second place and Vytautas Magnus University in third.
