3×3 basketball team
3×3 basketball is a rapidly growing sport that became an Olympic discipline in 2020. It is a variation of basketball played with teams of three players each, using a single hoop instead of the traditional five-on-five format.
In response to the increasing demand for this sport, the university is forming 3×3 basketball teams for both men and women comprised of student-athletes. The VMU 3×3 basketball teams compete in the PRO division of the 3×3 Basketball Association League, the Baltic Student Sports Games (SELL) and other tournaments.
The VMU men’s 3×3 basketball team won the European Universities 3×3 Basketball Championship in 2023 and became the champion of the Baltic Student Sports Games (SELL) in 2022.
The VMU women’s 3×3 basketball team also claimed victory in the Baltic Student Sports Games in 2023.
